Synergy

My self-made documentation website for discord bots.

How it started

I was using a highly customizable Discord bot Sapphire, which didn’t had any documentation on its features. A member of the Sapphire support server created unofficial guides to help users understand the bot’s features.

However, some people preferred video tutorials over written guides. So I created video tutorials demonstrating how to use Sapphire’s features. Some videos required typing long messages, which could potentially bore viewers.

To speed up the process, I needed a website where viewers could easily access and copy the text from the website which I can link it on the video descriptions.

So I found out Gitbook and used it for a while then I wrote some sapphire bot guides based on my youtube videos but I didn’t liked to use Gitbook so I moved all my guides to Zaap

I used zaap for few months and I felt I need more customization and the only option I had is to build a website on my own to have the features I want so I found Vercel’s Nextra Framework and decided to build a website using the Nextra without any coding knowledge.

It took me more than 2 weeks to build the website and it is live now. My guides are very in-depth, well designed images for readers to understand the guides easily.

How is it going

I got 1,000 visitors to my guides website in the first 10 days after launch and 2,000 visitors in the first 20 days.

People are still sharing the guides on the internet and I am adding more guides and updating existing ones based on feedback from my Discord community members.

I spend a lot of time writing the guides because I have to write them without any technical jargon to make it easier for everyone to understand and design the necessary images. Each guide takes up to 7 to 9 hours complete.
